The heart of the CE 04 lies in its impressive electric engine, generating 31kW of power. It delivers engaging and captivating rides with trademark electric torque, allowing for swift acceleration from 0 to 50km/h in just 2.6 seconds. As with other electric bikes, it never fails to amuse riders with its instant, responsive linear acceleration, often surprising larger motorcycle riders with its nimbleness and ability to leave them behind at traffic lights.
The CE 04 offers four selectable Ride Modes, including ECO, Rain, Road, and Dynamic, each influencing acceleration, regenerative braking, and range. Our experience predominantly revolved around Dynamic mode, relishing the benefits of maximum electric acceleration. Despite its weight of 231kg and length, the CE 04 remains remarkably nimble, measuring 855mm in width. With a standard seat height of 780mm, it ensures comfort for most riders. The scooter's steel double-looped frame, coupled with a single bridge telescopic fork at the front and a single-sided swingarm with directly hinged suspension at the rear (providing 100mm and 92mm travel respectively), contributes to a firm yet plush ride with excellent handling dynamics.
Braking power is delivered by dual 265mm rotors with four-piston fixed callipers at the front, and a single 265mm rotor with a single-piston floating calliper at the rear, bolstered by BMW Motorrad ABS. The CE 04 surpasses many of its competitors in terms of braking performance. When cruising on more open urban roads, the CE 04 offers a range of 130km. The 10.25in TFT display provides a comprehensive range of rider information, including access to the Ride Modes, which can also be controlled from toggles on the handlebars. Additionally, it offers full smartphone connectivity and intuitive navigation. Charging infrastructure remains an ongoing concern for local consumers, but it is gradually improving. The CE 04 can be charged from a domestic socket or dedicated charging stations. Using a Mode 2 cable (provided as standard) and plugging it into a regular socket or standard column charger, you can achieve 0-80% charge in approximately 3.5 hours (1.9/2.3kW). Opting for an optional Mode 3 rapid charger can significantly reduce charging time to 65 minutes (6.9kW).
The CE 04 also boasts built-in helmet storage and extra storage can be added with accessories. There are also three concealed compartments that can hold wallets, keys and phones, located under the dash on the front of the scooter.
